Logo/BW to Color

Image
Black and White Color Images Artists Statement: I was inspired by Paula Scher’s The Public logo for this project.  I wanted to match the big bubbled letters but add my own style.  I like when letters are wacky shaped and strange looking, and I wanted to combine big and small letters.  These were my results.  Overall I am pleased with the design, and I think I like the third option a little more than the other two.  I think having one color for a logo, especially one like mine, is better to have.  It makes the design feel more focused and less like an art project.     To be in a state of play is to be in a comfortable mindset while working, at least in my opinion.  I feel as though being in a state of play allows most people to actually be comfortable during their creative process.  Being in a state of play means you can think freely without any serious ideas forcing you to be realistic with your work.  It means you can be a little messy and still feel successful when you are done with your work.  If I am in a state of play it means that I will not be afraid of any ideas that come to my mind because I am allowing them to enter, I am allowing the inner child in me to have fun.  That's what being in a state of play means to me.     My best ideas come from the internet.  Inspiration plays a big part in my creativity.  YouTube videos and films inspire me to keep creating the work I like to create.  I like to create YouTube films analysis with my YouTube channel.  I also like to create s...

Jacob Dobosh Calligram Project

Image
For this project, I had to base the image I wanted to do on a letter I wrote to my future self.  In my letter, I stated that I hope my dream career as a filmmaker works out so I wanted to make my project based on that.  I decided to make my calligram project a film camera.  I’ve used Illustrator before so this wasn’t as hard to do as I thought.  I wanted to make the dials and buttons seem a little more 3D so I typed one word and distorted it to make it look rounder.  The one-word distortion I did in the top right of the image looks way better than I thought it would.  Overall I like how this project turned out and the 3 hours it took for me to make it were well worth it. Inspiration Picture: Letter to my Future Self: Dear Me, Hopefully 20 years from now our preferred storybook timeline actually happened.  Hopefully, we are working on our Transformers Cinematic Universe like we have dreamed of doing since we were 6 years old.  Hopefully, we have ...

I/W/B/W

The Internet is the network of connected computers that the web works on.  It's also what emails and files travel through.  The Internet started in the 1960s with the creation of the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, or ARPANET.  It was funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and created by computer scientists.  The reasons for the creation of the Internet are the government wanting their researchers to share information faster and because of the heating up of the cold war.  Originally ARPANET was a great success and evolved into what we know today as the internet.  However, it was limited in its membership due to the lack of academic and research organizations that had contact with the Defense Department.  Today the internet is still used to transfer information between computers, but it is not used to only send classified information through, it is also used by the average citizen to send emails and files from computer to computer, as well ...

Illustrator Homework

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GzumUieDPY&t=183s I feel that the pen tool will be the hardest tool for me to understand just because of how dynamic its functions are.  I think the easiest tool to use is the selection tool, just because how you already kind of know what it can and cannot do.  I will probably use the pen tool, once I figure out how to get good at it, to create cool shapes and logos and images like that.  I also wish to create logos with it just for fun.  I liked how the video was just a quick tutorial for anyone who just wants to get their feet wet with the program.  Its quick editing and pacing made it a little difficult to understand but good for anyone who can learn easily and doesn't want to spend hours watching somebody explain all the ins and outs of Adobe Illustrator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vHKwYhkE7U This tutorial is very well-paced and engaging because there is a camera showing a real person as the screen recording o...

Digital Media First Thoughts

Image
My name is Jacob Dobosh, and I am from Buffalo, NY.  I usually spend my time talking about movies and/or football with my friends as well as watching said movies and football.  My favorite football team is the Seattle Seahawks, but the Pittsburgh Steelers come in a close second.  If you think that’s weird, consider that I was born in New Jersey.  I don’t get it either.  As a film major I like making YouTube videos.  I’m a bit of a nerd, meaning I like Marvel, Star Wars, and Transformers.  I swear I am mature. I expect this class to be extremely informative and I am actually really excited about it, as I use Adobe products but would love to learn way more about them, especially Illustrator.  I expect and hope it is very informative and I also hope to be able to understand and, most importantly, remember what is possible in the Adobe programs we take a look at.  I like creating digital art so I do hope this class can help me in knowing how to c...
